We celebrate and welcome Portland’s newest composer resident, Andy Akiho, with a program that features his epic work for prepared piano and string quartet, “Prospects of a Misplaced Year.” The program kicks off with Gabriella Smith’s brilliant work, “Carrot Revolution.”

Gabriella Smith is a composer from the San Francisco Bay Area whose music has been described as “high-voltage and wildly imaginative” (Philadelphia Inquirer); “bold, original and suggests exciting new directions for American music” (Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero)

Andy Akiho: Prospects of a Misplaced Year
Described as “mold-breaking” and “vital” by The New York Times, Andy Akiho is an eclectic composer and performer whose interests run from steel pan to traditional classical music.
