Just like everything else, the FisherPoets Gathering looks a little different this year
When we gathered in the venues and streets of Astoria last February for the 23rd FisherPoets Gathering, few of us could have foreseen how different our lives would look nearly a year later. The organizing committee had hoped that conditions might allow for an in-person event this year, but this fall it became pretty clear that the safest and best way to celebrate the 24th FisherPoets Gathering was as a virtual event.
The FisherPoets Gathering has long relied on generous folks like you to grease its gears. Under normal circumstances, we count on all of you to be the friendly faces at our venue doors and help out at the Gearshack, our pop-up bookstore. With the FisherPoets Gathering going virtual this year, we are keeping the operation as simple as we can. Which unfortunately means no venues, no Gearshack, and no need for our usual large crew of volunteers.
While there aren’t volunteer opportunities this year, we hope that you will still participate and show your support for the FisherPoets community by joining the audience.
We are planning three nights of virtual live performances, with FisherPoets providing short readings from their homes, boats, or other far flung locales. It’s a rare chance to truly catch them all. We will have performances starting at 6pm, an intermission followed by a second set starting at 8 pm PST.
