An update on COVID 19 locally and statewide in Oregon
Yesterday, Oregon reported 307 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, and 6 new deaths. The state wide case total is 203,671 cases.
Clatsop County yesterday announced 6 new cases.
Clatsop, Tillamook and Multinomah counties are classified currently as low risk. Columbia County remains in high risk. These classifications hold through June 17th. The state is evaluating risk levels weekly.
In terms of vaccinations, the 7-day running average for shots administered statewide is now 14,560 doses per day.
The vaccination rate in Clatsop County is 43.8 percent for the total population and 54.1 percent for people age 18 and up. The statewide rate is 53.8.
When counties reach 70 percent immunization,
According to Governor Kate Brown, 67.1% of Oregonians 18+ are now vaccinated with a first dose—which means we need 97,168 more people to get their shot. Once we cross 70% statewide, we can begin to more fully reopen our economy.
There are two ways that counties can take to move to lower risk.
This first option allows counties to move permanently to the lower risk category:

Vaccinate 65% of county residents who are 16 and older with at least one dose of vaccine.

Have an equity plan that has been reviewed and accepted by OHA.

This move to lower risk is permanent.
The second option, which is where we are right now in Clatsop and Tillamook counties:

Meet low infection rates approved by the Governor’s office.

However, if COVID-19 rates rise, individual counties may return to a more restrictive level.
