The 2nd 30 Club
Established in 2013 when KMUN celebrated 30 years on air, to support services for the next 30 years.
The 2nd 30 Club is an inclusive group of people developing an operating fund that would be available for unforeseen budget cuts and natural disasters.
The goal is to have $75,000 in this fund
A word from Harriet Baskas -September 17, 2013
As KMUN’s first station manager, I was thrilled to help celebrate its 30th Anniversary with so many familiar faces from the early “We don’t really know what we’re doing, but let’s build a radio station” days and, more importantly, so many new ones.
Thanks to the support of a great number of people, over the past thirty years Coast Community Radio has matured into not just a radio station, but a true regional resource that provides both a wide variety of programming services and a myriad of additional, often essential, services to a unique part of the Pacific Northwest.
Other community media organizations around the country claim to do this. Few are as successful at it as Coast Community Radio. And few have gotten there with as much organizational zest and good humor.
Now it’s time to look ahead to the next thirty years.
The Tillicum Foundation’s Board of Directors, the staff and a committee of founding members, former managers and friends are working on a multi-pronged, long term plan to assure the financial health of the organization going forward.
That plan involves reviewing the operational budget, growing the individual and business membership base, increasing on-air underwriting and seeking more grants and foundation gifts….
The good news is that we already have a very healthy start towards that $75,000 goal, thanks to a $10,000 seed gift from a long-time station supporter and additional donations from several others.
I’ve made an extra contribution this year to support Coast Community Radio’s Operating Reserve. I hope you will join me by making a donation to this fund now beyond your annual membership.
Please mail in your contribution to KMUN at P.O. Box 269, Astoria, OR 97103, or contribute here on the website. If you prefer, you can also email or call General Manager Joanne Rideout or Development Director Susan Boac 503-325-0010 or 800-518-0010.
Thank-you so much, and here’s to the continued success of Coast Community Radio.
