Indivisible North Coast Oregon will hold a rally in support of Dreamers— undocumented young people brought to the US by their parents when the children were in many cases very young—Saturday at 11 outside the Astoria post office at 8th and Commercial streets.
The rally’s focus is to encourage citizens to put pressure on their members of Congress to come up with a reasonable immigration policy. The rally is open to all those who support DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. President Donald Trump recently announced his intention to end the program in six months.
Indivisible North Coast Oregon is a non-partisan, grassroots organization with more than 800 members dedicated to fighting authoritarianism, bigotry, and corruption. More then 5,000 Indivisible organizations have sprung up around the nation in response to Trump’s election.
Immediately following the rally at 1, Indivisible North Coast Oregon is hosting a talk, to be given by the Rural Organizing Project, about undocumented immigrants, at the Columbian Theater at 11th and Marine Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
