Joe Metal Cowboy Kurmaskie will tell the untold but true story of British long distance cyclist Evelyn Hamilton who became a record breaking, and gender breaking figure in pre-World War II cycling. She was the first British woman to ride 1000 miles in just seven days and was one of Britain’s most decorated female cyclists. Evelyn has been called cycling’s female Jackie Robinson and was a record setter barred from racing head to head with the men. She fought sexism, Nazis, and her own ambitions to become a war heroine and champion for women’s rights. This emancipated warrior of cycling often carried important information for the allies, hidden in her handlebars, and was honored for valor with the Cross of Lorraine Medal of Honor during World War II as a member of the French Resistance. Even with all of her accomplishments she was denied the opportunity to ride against the men in the Tour de France.
