Astoria High School Auditorium

Astoria High School Drama proudly presents Oscar Wilde’s brilliantly clever comedy, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
A trivial comedy for serious people, “Earnest” explores with wit and satire both the charm and absurdity of the Victorian “age of surfaces” in England. The story follows the love lives of four young protagonists who deal with the social expectations and upper-class ideals of their time by creating fictitious personas, eating cucumber sandwiches, and writing in personal diaries that are meant for publication.
Performances take place Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10. Shows start at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door each performance evening. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and children 12 and younger. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Please come show your support for the performing arts and your local high school!
