The Astoria Music Festival’s 15th Anniversary Celebration includes 15 symphonic, operatic, chamber and contemporary music events over two weeks with some of the world’s finest soloists and instrumentalists, including America opera superstar soprano Angela Meade, Ukrainian violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv, Russian cellist Sergey Antonov, Russian pianist Ilya Kazantzev, Italian violinist Roberto Cani, MET Opera soprano Deborah Mayer, MET Opera baritone Richard Zeller, classical world guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan, violist Sarah Kwak, pianist Cary Lewis, and Mexican baritone Luis Ledesma. As well as two Oregon Premieres: Angela Meade in Recital, Philip Glass’ Icarus at the Edge of Time, and two World Premieres: Elegy by American composer Todd Mason, commissioned to celebrate the Festival’s 15th Anniversary, and the debut of the Young Virtuosi String Quartet performing new arrangements of Israel Nebeker’s haunting songs. Joining the popular artist lineup is singer-songwriter Israel Nebeker, and 3 Leg Torso.
